yes, sv650s was one of the best deal. but of course there are many improvements need to be made. one of them is to replace the cracked tachometer visor. i was afraid that i might get some water in there and get some electric problem.
first i looked into buying a new oem parts. well, it costs $68 bucks. ouch! that is very expensive.
so i get on ebay and look around. i find a brand new one. i bid...... i win for $6.50 + $5.00 shipping. horrrrrrraaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy one kink, they don't take paypal. so i had to call them the following day and give them my cc number. it was a little inconvenient.
i get the package in 3 days, wow. that was quick. i open it up. hmmmmm..... ebay description didn't state anything about this SCRATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh, well, for 6.50. i can't complain. (but what kind of ebay feed back should i leave?)
here are the steps i took to replace the visor.
1. take the fairing off the bike. don't forget to unhook the turn signal wire and position light wire!
2. get the electric wire harness of of speedo/tachometer housing.
3. take the speedo/tachometer housing off by taking out the four nuts. there is one that is VER'y difficult to get to. so take your time and be patient.
4. turn over the gage cluster and take out the screws, 6 big ones and 1 small one.
5. take the gage cluster a part and replace the visor with the new one.
6. now put all back together.
it was my first time for me to do this and i got it done under one hour. not bad!
