CB750 Front Brake Bleeding

29,354 miles

tonight, i worked on the front brake. it was TOTALLY nasty. fluid is rusted. the bleeding nipple was frozen. i had to apply the liquid wrench.

but the most difficult part was bleeding the front brake system. i emptied the reservoir because of the nasty brake fluid. i put new dot 3 fluid in there, but i could not get the air out.

i searched through google and some forums, but no avail. so here is THE best way of doing it.

1. fill the reservoir with new fluid.
2. tap the bottom of the reservoir lightly with the palm of your hand as you repeatedly squeeze the brake lever. tapping will force the air to move toward the reservoir and squeezing will force the bubbles to come out.
3. when you first fee a bit of the resistance, stop squeezing. i felt a bit of resistance in a few minutes of doing this. if you have the cap off, and if you don't stop squeezing, you will be shooting the fluid EVERYWHERE!
4. close the cap, keep tapping and keep squeezing.
5. you should by now are getting a pretty good resistance.
6. now you can bleed using the bleeding nipple. i will have my son squeeze the lever tomorrow.

happy riding... ummm... fixing. =)
