Scarver Oil Change

11,822 miles MLK Day 2012 was blessed with a beautiful 73 degree weather. Rode the bike for 10 min or so to get the engine warm. Then parked it on the side stand. The oil drain bolt is on the left side of the frame. Yes, the frame is the oil tank on this bike. Be careful when removing the plug. The oil will shoot out. There is a copper washer on the drain plug. Make sure to get it and replace it with the new one. Here is the oil filter kit. It comes with the filter and all the other washers you need to replace. I thought the oil might drip onto the frame, but it never did. There is a drain bolt on the bottom of the engine. It's a 24mm bolt. A quite bit, perhaps a 1/2 quart, of oil came out of the engine case. The bolt has a copper washer. It tends to stick to the engine case. Make sure to get the copper washer. So I need to get the oil filter cover off, but it looks like I need to take off the front sprocket cover off first. As I took off

BMW F650CS Headlight Harness

Yesterday, I dug into my Scarver to place a switched relay to supply 12v to auxiliary items. As I looked around, the front end to get powered signal, I thought the position light can supply just that. So I started to look around to make sure that I tap into the positive side of it. That's when I discovered the Wiring Harness in BAD SHAPE! 80% of the insulation was breaking off and showing bare wires. I can also see the light terminals getting brown, like burned. hmmm..... So I decided to rewire the harness, but couldn't take off the connector - sigh. If anyone knows how to do that, please leave a comment. I ended up splicing wires to replace the bare wires. During this operation, I noticed that three of four screws holding the low beam assembly was gone. I found one screw floating in the headlight housing - got that out and tightened up the assembly to the housing. One another screw was stuck in the housing. I couldn't get it out. Another screw
