BMW F650CS - what a fun bike! This thumper will go just about anywhere. I took it to a 1,000 mile ride a few weeks ago and here is the story.
I was originally going to take my Goldwing. Here is what I packed the night before.
Saturday morning: Goldwing is dead. =(
So I pack only the essentials (a half as much as I was going to take) to the Scarver.
Nice hot Texas day - riding through country roads - takes us to Lockhart, Texas - the BBQ capital of Texas. We had a great lunch at Smitty's
Just across from the Caldwell County's beautiful courthouse
After lunch, visited the Caldwell County Museum to digest our great lunch.
Our destination of the day was Guadalupe River State Park.
As usual, I hang my hammock. This time I am using a net/screen over my hammock. Both hammock and the screen were hand made by my wife.
Hit the river and cooled down. Water level was down, but still it was a nice soak.
Rode to Springbranch for dinner and back.
Day 2
Got up and made a nice cup of coffee and breakfast. I love having a cup of coffee at the camp site.
Ride around west of the park all day!
The best fuel mileage was 69.5 MPG. Yes, nearly 70 MPG!!!
Then back to park for more soaking in the river.
Day 3
Time to head home. Scarver loaded completely.
We had to have more BBQ on the way home.
Not as good as Smitty's, but still plenty good. I love TEXAS!
I love HOT Texas weather!
Very nice three days. I am so glad Goldwind didn't start that morning. I had so much fun on my Thumper!
