playing with the pipes... part iii - taking the stock pipes out

i did not expect this to be SO DIFFICULT!!!!

  1. taking the heat shields off were easy. just undo the pipe clamps and they came off easily.
  2. i found out that rear pipe bracket is broke and needs to be replaced.
  3. all the bolts came off easy, but the stock pipe will NOT side off the header pipe. i am already using a lot of liquid wrench.
  4. after a lot of sweat and hours of struggling, i gave up working in the garage, it was just too HOT!
  5. i ended up removing the entire exhaust system off the bike and took them in the house. i needed the air conditioned space to work on this.
  6. after hours of struggle, they came off.
  7. putting them back together with the new slip-ons wasn't too difficult. except, i still need the rear exhaust bracket. (i ended up getting a used one off a member from XL forum.)
